The goal of treatment
The goal of treatment is to help people with depression feel more like themselves so they can move forward with their lives. Ideally, treatment will help reduce all the symptoms, both emotional and physical. When symptoms do not go away completely though, there is an increased risk of that the depression will come back. Nobody should settle for feeling only slightly better. With proper care, people can significantly improve their depression and return to leading productive lives.1
Finding a trusted healthcare professional who can prescribe a treatment plan just for you, which may include talk therapy, support groups, medication or a combination of treatments, is the first step to moving toward recovery.
